Webster County EMS received a $4,953 grant from Sumter EMC Foundation to purchase two laptops for their ambulances. EMS personnel need laptops to assist them with completing electronic patient care reports. These legal documents become part of a patient's medical history chart and allow the EMS crew to transmit necessary patient information to the state database for local hospitals to keep continuity in patient care.
"With rapid change and demand, technology upgrades are necessary for medical personnel in today's world," said Andrea Walker, Chairman of Sumter EMC Foundation. With such grants, local communities can provide improved patient care for their citizens. "Concern for Community " is one of Sumter EMC's guiding principles which steer decisions and programs we support. We are proud to assist first responders with funding for the equipment they need to improve the care they give," said Walker.
