The Sumter EMC Foundation awarded Positive Direction Youth Center in Terrell County $4,082 to help update computers used by students attending their after-school program. The purchase of these computers allows their students to reap the benefits technology upgrades provide, assisting students in meeting and exceeding educational goals.
“Sumter EMC is committed to supporting education and equipping students with the tools they need to succeed,” said Andrea Walker, Chairman of the Sumter EMC Foundation. There are seven guiding principles by which cooperatives govern themselves. One of those principles, Concern for Community, steers many projects, activities, and programs Sumter EMC supports. “This project is a great example of how good things happen when community members work together towards a common goal. Sumter EMC is proud to support Positive Direction Youth Center and the impact their programs have on local students,” Walker said.
