Middle Flint Health & Wellness, a community mental health center that serves 11 counties in southwest Georgia, received a $1,500 grant from the Sumter EMC Foundation. The grant will help fund an emergency preparedness project and purchase an automated external defibrillator (AED) device.
The emergency preparedness project aims to enhance safety and provide critical life-saving equipment at the mental health center in an emergency. A key component is acquiring a new AED machine, which can analyze heart rhythms and deliver an electric shock to restore normal heart function during sudden cardiac arrest emergencies. This AED will be centrally located and integrated into the center’s emergency action plan.
“The Sumter EMC Foundation is proud to collaborate with Middle Flint Health & Wellness in our shared commitment to community health and safety. We are delighted to support their efforts in enhancing emergency preparedness, a key priority for us,” said Andrea Walker, Chairman of the Sumter EMC Foundation.
The acquisition of the new AED machine significantly enhances their emergency preparedness. It will directly benefit the hundreds of patients, guests, and staff visiting Middle Flint’s facilities each year, providing additional protection and readiness for potential cardiac emergencies.
