(Preston, GA) – The Sumter EMC Foundation awarded Lee County Library $4,125.00 to purchase new books, shelving, and seating for the children’s section, creating a more engaging and attractive literacy center for families within the community to enjoy.
“Through this grant from our Foundation, Sumter EMC is proud to be a part of the Webster County Library system’s efforts in promoting literacy by providing materials that children and families can enjoy. By keeping to our principle of Concern for Community, we are pleased to support life-long learning opportunities for all ages,” said Andrea Walker, Chairman of Sumter EMC Foundation.
"The Assistant Director of the Kinchafoonee Regional Library System, Michael Kennedy, stated that the Webster County Library, as a member of the Kinchafoonee Regional Library System, holds great potential for enhancing early childhood literacy in Webster County and its surrounding areas." The Webster County Library partners with the local school system and the Family Connections to attract families to the library and encourage family engagement. Library staff and volunteers are enthusiastic about expanding the children’s area and are eager to put the grant-funded resources to meaningful use.
